Anhui Liu An Gua Pian leaf green tea
In the mountains of Liu An in Anhui, we found a tea which has its name because it is the same shape as a melon slice. However, the Liu An Gua Pian is especially famous because of its unique taste and fragrance. Liu An Gua Pian is a crispy summery tea, with a hint of smoke. Some people have also noted the taste of fresh vegetables in this tea. After picking the tea leaves, Liu An Gua Pian is baked in big pans leading the tea to have a slightly smoky taste
Lu An melon seed, often written Liu An Gua Pian and sometimes just Guapian tea, is a well-known style of green tea from Anhui, China. The name "melon seed" references the way the leaves have an oval shape resembling melon seeds, after they unfurl during brewing. The dry leaf, on the other hand, has a rolled, cylindrical shape.
It uses the second leaf on the branch and it is the ONLY green tea in CHina that does not include any tips, buds, or higher leave.
History:
The history of Lu An Gua Pian dates back to the Tang Dynasty,
which is recorded in Lu Yu's Cha Jing describing it as a "Superior Tea".
Lu Yu said that " the famous moutain in the world could raising celestial grass,
the warm climate in Jiangnan is suitble for tea,
and the north of Changjiang river is famous for Liu An Gua Pian".

Lu'an Guapian Green Tea, one of the Ten Most Famous Chinese Tea, is originated from Dabie Mountain in Lu'an city, Anhui Province. The tea literally means Lu'an Melon Seed, or Lu'an Melon Slice due to the shape of the processed tea leaves which are flat and oval, resembling a melon seed.
Lu'an Guapian boasts high yield. It is a single-leaf tea without stems and buds. As a kind of baked green tea, Lu'an Guapian has a melon-seed-like dark green leaves with white fuzz on the surface. The green liquid has a lingering fruit fragrance, and the taste is very smooth with hints of sweetness.

Brewing instructions:
Use 3-4 grams of this tea per glass along with water just below boiling (70-80 degrees Celsius). To prepare half a liter of this tea, use around 5 grams depending on your personal preference. Don't start with too much tea, otherwise it will become bitter. Steep the tea for a few seconds if you like mild tea or for a little more than a minute of you like strong tea. When using the KungFu tea set, use 3-4 grams each time you steep the tea. It's not necessary to wash this tea before steeping, but it doesn't hurt.
